The wireless rear channel speakers and wireless sub-woofer is a great feature. It's nice to have a 5.1 surround sound system without stringing wires all over the place. I have been very happy with this unit. I am currently renting, and I didn't want to worry about tearing up the walls to run speaker wire.
The unit has AM and FM input selectors which have little value in todays cable focused world and should be replaced by other input capabilities. However; I am very pleased with the quality As there is only 1 HDMI input port, 1 RCA, and 1 component input soif you have a cable box, an extra DVD recorder. The unit could be more versital if there was more inport ports than provided. The wireless connector to the rear speaker unit make for the delivery of a full sound when listening. The PT1050 produces excellent sound quality and is very intuitive to use. Just to set expectations, the wireless is from the main unit to a single reciever which require wires to go to each rear speaker. RoKu (Netflix) box, and a separate VHS unit you'll need to add consentrator bridges.
So, I will never buy another Panasonic product again, nor will I ever buy anything from Amazon again. So we drive 45 minutes AGAIN to the repair shop, and this time the whole circuit board needs to be replaced. After 4 months, the LED display stopped working. Sooooo, we use it again, and after about 4 times of using it, the LED went out again. of it NOT working. We have contacted Panasonic several times, and they've now given us an option of waiting for it to be repaired again (who knows how long that will take since the part they need is out of stock) OR they will pay us to send the unit back to them, MINUS the sales tax that we paid. We had to drive 45 minutes to the closest Panasonic warranty repair shop. So we drive 45 minutes AGAIN to the repair shop, this time they had to replace all sorts of parts (right, so much for that "loose wire") and took about a month to get it back.
But of course, as luck would have it, the part is on backorder. So, basically we are losing $42 by buying this unit, plus figure about $100 in gas to take it to and pick up from the repair shop.Amazon has told us there is nothing they can do, unless we want to return it for 50% of what was paid. Buying this system was the worst mistake we ever made. We got it back 2 weeks later (it was a "loose wire") and after using it about 2 times the thing practically exploded on us. So we had 4 months of a unit that would work, and 5 months (so far).
So now, I will bring it to the reparation center. and I made sure it is not my mistake while I set up it. Hope this story will help you.Emanuele I bought this system through buy.com first and received it at home defective: the sub-woofer doesn't switch on (zero light, not even the red one while waiting for shynch). So I returned to the system to Buy.com and decided to buy it from a more reliable website ==> Amazon.comUnfortunately the new system has the same problem. Otherwise, I would spend the shipping fees and loose it for the second time.
That date has also past and I'm now being told by Amazon that they don't know when they'll get it in stock and they'll email me if they ever do. Two months came and went and was given a new estimated delivery date. Why continue to take orders for an item you can't fulfill. I'd like to review this item but I have yet to receive it. I placed my order on March 15 and was told it may take two months for delivery after I ordered it. Meanwhile they still have it for sale.
